Former Heritage Minister Suleiman Shakombo has announced decamping from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to Wiper.
Speaking on Saturday, Shakombo, who has declared interest in the Likoni parliamentary seat, said he will support Nyali MP Hezron Awiti for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat in the next general election.
Shakombo said Awiti has what it takes to be the next governor of Mombasa, adding that his declaration to support him came after they held talks at the Whitesands Hotel to hatch a plot that will see them dethrone Governor Hassan Joho, whom he termed as a traitor.
“If I rally behind Awiti, Likoni people will be assured of seats in the next government and bursaries will be disbursed equally to all. We anticipate immense development,” said Shakombo as quoted by The Star.
Shakombo has been attacked on several occasions by different ODM leaders, after he expressed his dissatisfaction following the endorsement of Mombasa Woman Representative Mishi Mboko for the Likoni parliamentary seat.
