Confirming the incident, Machakos Town Children’s Officer Joram Kamau said that he has been receiving a lot of cases of stolen children lately from residents.

“In the past one month, I have been receiving cases of stolen babies and the issue has escalated. Today another case has been reported to my office of a seven-month-old baby boy who has been allegedly kidnapped by a shamba boy,” said officer Kamau.

According to the officer, the mother of the young boy had gone to the market at the time when the incident occurred. She however suspects that the worker did the kidnapping because he had cleared his belongings and disappeared when the employer came back from the market.

Wanza Kyengo is another parent in grief after her two children aged three and four disappeared mysteriously from their home in Eastleigh Village in Machakos Town.

“My two children went out to play with the rest of the children outside, but when I went out to get them, they were not there. I reported to the police and the children’s office but still we could not find them,” said Kyengo.

Officer Kamau has urged parents to keep watch of their young ones to avoid repeat of such incidents.
