Mvita lawmaker Sharriff Nassir has called on Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan to consider co-sponsoring Kenyan Karate championships of all sporting cadres as a means of boosting sporting tourism in the County.
He said Karate was one of the sporting activities that required sufficient sponsorship to uplift and support talents of the people of Mombasa.
Nassir who is Joho's close confidant, was speaking when he witnessed encounters during the Kenya Karate Championship held for the first time in Mombasa at Patel Samaj Hall, which attracted over 400 participants from all over Kenya.
In January, the ODM MP flagged off a team of Boxers from the Coastal region heading to Nairobi for selection-trials for a place in Team Kenya.
The team would head for the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia from April 4, 2018.
"The Shariff Nassir Foundation is glad to have catered for the Caravan's transport arrangements to and from Nairobi," he said.
"As a region, we are proud to have legends in the Boxing game. We wish our Boxers all the very best in the trials," added the MP.
Nassir affirmed that he would support the youth in his constituency and ensure they use talents to better their lives.
