Machakos Jumia Mosque Imam Sheikh Abdulla on Friday lamented that marriages are taking the wrong direction concerning the decisions spouses make on conflict resolution methods.
Abdulla was speaking in Kariobangi area in Machakos town during a funeral service of Swaleh Mumina, a father of one, who was killed by his wife following disagreement between the two.
“There has been a problem in the marriage set up in this era with a lot of violence being witnessed where men beat their wives but now it has also involved wives beating their husbands,” said Abdulla.
According to the Imam, Mumina was hit by his wife with a blunt object in the head and the ribs.
He advised residents that incase of conflicts spouses should seek help from the two families if it fails, they should follow the right legal process.
“The postmortem shows that he had severe injuries on the head and seven ribs were broken,” said Abdulla.
Speaking to Machakos Township Chief Joshua Kimeu, confirmed that Mumina's wife has been arrested by Machakos police station police officers.
“The wife has been arrested and is now remanded in Machakos cells waiting to be arraigned in court later,” said Kimeu.
Swaleh Mumina is the son of the late renowned broadcaster of Voice Of Kenya (VOK) Swaleh Athuman Mumina.
