Oscar Sudi the Kapseret MP said on Tuesday that Ruto is best placed to clinch the presidency during the next general election calling on Moi to throw his support to the former Eldoret North MP's presidential ambition.

"The fact that we voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta because his father was president does not mean that we will vote for Gideon because his father was also president," Sudi said amid applause.

"Anyone who will dare cross the path of Deputy President William Ruto will be dealt with accordingly," he added.

Both Ruto and Gideon Moi have expressed interest in contesting for the presidency in 2022.

Voters from Rift Valley region are currently divided on who to support between the two leaders.

Ruto has an agreement with President Uhuru Kenyatta that the Kikuyu community where Uhuru comes from will back his presidential bid in 2022 as an appreciation for the Kalenjin support for Uhuru in 2013 and 2017.

Moi on the hand claims 2022 is the time for him to get the Kikuyu support because former President Daniel Moi introduced Uhuru to politics and enabled him to win the presidency in 2013.
