Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi now wants Machakos deputy governor Bernard Kiala to shelve his gubernatorial bid and instead support Wavinya Ndeti’s bid.
Speaking to supporters at Ikombe market in Yatta on Wednesday, Mwangangi said that Kiala has no numbers to unseat Governor Mutua in the August 8 polls.
He added that Wavinya Ndeti has been endorsed and blessed by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and therefore Kiala should opt out of the race.
“Kiala should bow out of the Machakos governor race and support Wavinya Ndeti who is Kalonzo’s choice he said as quoted by the Star.
The Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) Vice chairman said that Ndeti has the numbers and experience to wrestle Governor Mutua out of power.
Mwangangi said that Wavinya Ndeti has the support needed to send Mutua home.
Last week Kiala said that he will not 'chicken' out if the race adding that he is ready to battle with Ndeti in Wiper nominations.
Ndeti who recently joined wiper is said to be Kalonzo's favorite candidate to unseat Mutua.
In an interview on Citizen TV last week, Kalonzo said that he has confidence in Wavinya Ndeti saying that she will trounce Mutua.
Kalonzo however said that Ndeti will have to battle it out with Kiala and others in the party nominations.
Ndeti has since picked East Africa Legislative MP peter Mathuki as her deputy in the race to unseat Mutua. The former Kathiani MP has exuded confidence of sending Mutua home in the August election.
