A section of politicians in Ukambani have called on Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and Senator Johnson Muthama to shelve their differences and work together.
The leaders say that the feud and rivalry between Mutua and Muthama is likely to hamper realization of development in Machakos.
The leaders led by former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile who is said to be eyeing the Mavoko parliamentary seat in Machakos said that continued rivalry between Mutua and Muthama is not healthy for development.
He said that the two leaders need to work together for development to be achieved.
“Governor Mutua and Senator Muthama should shelve their differences and work together for the interests of the people,” said Ndile on phone on Thursday.
The former MP said that Mutua and Muthama were elected by the locals and that they have to work together.
Machakos MP Victor Munyaka also wants the two leaders to work together.
He says that continued rivalry is hurting development.
“The governor and the senator have to work together their offices are critical to realization of development,” he said.
On Thursday Mutua and Muthama’s rivalry once again came to the fore during the burial of Mutu’a uncle in Kalama, Machakos county.
The two leaders did not speak and ignored each other with Muthama declining governor Mutua’s invite to address mourners.
Earlier on Mutua had declined deputy governor’s Bernard Kiala invite to speak to the mourners.
However, Muthama addressed mourners after being invited by county Women Representative Dr Susan Musyoka.
