Shimba Hills and Waa Girls are expected to represent the Coast region during this year’s Chap Dimba competition after emerging the winners of the finals over the weekend. The two schools, which hail from Kwale, will join other teams from different parts of the nation during the national competition, which has been scheduled for March 23 in Nairobi.
Shimba Hills beat Breezham FC 3-0 while Girls registered the same score-line over Solwogidi from Malindi during entertaining finals at the Shanzu. The two teams were awarded Sh200, 000 each while their respective players presented with a phone worth Sh10, 000 during the tournament, which was sponsored by Safaricom. The teams that lost during the competition took home Sh100, 000 while each of their players was awarded phones costing Sh6, 000.
The final winners of the competition at the national level are expected to walk away with Sh1 million each. The teams will always get an opportunity to train in London April 2018. The two teams emerged victorious out of the 166 teams that took part in the competition which saw more than 380 games played.
