Rongai OCPD Joseph Mwamburi has fired a shot at illicit brewers in the area that the government will not relent on the war against all the illegal drinks.
Tough talking Mwamburi fired the salvo Tuesday as he led a major operation in the area to arrest suspected brewers accused of injuring a chief during an operation to destroy chang’aa.
“They have touched the government. You cannot attack a government chief, we must catch up with them,” Mwamburi said.
Solai Chemasis Chief Samwel Totona was attacked on Saturday evening during an operation he had mounted to destroy illicit brew dens.
He is recuperating at the Nakuru County hospital after a surgery on his leg to remove an arrow shot by a suspected brewer.
The police boss said that anyone in the business must close down or leave the area.
“We can’t allow it, it is illegal and the President gave a directive. They must venture into something else or vacate this area,” Mwamburi said.
