Police in Eldoret town are planing to conduct a major crackdown on entertainment joints that are still selling shisha to its customers.
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassaan says this follows reports that the substance was still in use despite the ban imposed by the Ministry of Health towards the end of last year.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Hassan said it was illegal for anybody to sell or use shisha.
"We've reports of increased shisha consumption in this county and we want those engaged in the substance sell that to know that it's illegal," Hassan noted.
"As at now we are putting in place elaborate measures that will see all those involved in the sell of this substance arrested and prosecuted," he added.
Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu imposed the ban on shisha on grounds that substance that had become popular across the country posed health risks to users.
