Meru senatorial hopeful Kobia Manyara stunned the county's residents when he presented his nomination papers to IEBC using a donkey cart.
Speaking on Sunday shortly after IEBC giving him the not to vie, Manyara noted that it was pointless to spend a lot of money for campaigns when many Kenyans are sleeping in an empty stomach.
He pledged to divert his campaign money to feeding the poor and less fortunate in the county, urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to ape him.
"My competitors have bought big cars, others have bought choppers worth hundreds of millions while our people continue to languish in poverty. I will instead use Sh2 million (set aside for nomination) to buy food for the poor," he said.
"If you go to a wedding with two witnesses, you will still get your marriage certificate and it does not mean God will not bless you with children," he added.
Manyara is vying as an independent candidate, and is set to battle it out with Jubilee Party's Mithika Linturi and PNU's Mugambi Imanyara.
