Residents of Ndumberi were shocked on Monday after a 78-year-old woman was found dead in what is suspected to be a suicide.
The body deceased was found hanging inside her house in Ndumberi by her granddaughter who later informed area locals.
According to Mercy Wanjohi, the granddaughter, her grandmother had been sick but they never anticipated such a move.
"I knocked on the door and there was no response, that's when I opted to peep through the window only to see her body hanging," said Wanjohi.
According to Titus Njoroge, a neighbor, the incident was a shock to neighbours.
"Am surprised why she decided to commit suicide. God has given us this long life and that age, it’s shocking to see one taking his/her own life," Njoroge said.
Kiambu OCPD SSP Stephen Ng'etich said that the deceased didn't leave behind any suicide note.
Police said family members recorded that the deceased had a history of attempted suicide.
"The body has been taken to Kiambu County Hospital Mortuary. I want to appeal to residents to avoid committing suicide as it is a crime," said Ng'etich.
