Two children aged between one and ten years are missing after a boat they were riding on capsized in River Tana.
The children were among five who were rescued by the red cross from the marooned Isowe village having sought refuge on the rooftop to spend the night.
County Red Cross Coordinator Gerald Bombe stated that his team had just salvaged the terrified five who were headed to safer grounds when the water currents swept away the boat overturning it.
"They were headed to safety but the water became very rough as it moved fast. With the boat moving in the opposite direction, it overturned due to strong currents,” he said.
The team is still struggling to rescue two others missing children as Mr. Jerrald has called for patience and perseverance.
The boat said to have been hired by a local politician to aid the rescue mission was retrieved from the water for repair.
