Residents of Nyanchwa area within Kisii town in Kisii County were left in a rude shock after body parts of a dead person and ugali were found abandoned in a plastic container on the road.
According to witnesses, a head and a hand of a dead person were found abandoned on the road on Saturday morning.
"It is a shock and dark day for us. Passers-by found the head, fat hand and ugali dumped on the road at around 7 am on Saturday. The person might have been killed elsewhere before the body parts were chopped off to be dumped here," said Kefa Chuma.
Locals called on police to speedy up investigations to know the person who might have been killed.
"Crime is high in the area. Police should launch probe into the matter and arrest killers who dumped the body parts here," said Jared Okemwa.
Doris Bosibori suggested that night runners might have abandoned the body parts in the area.
"Witchcraft is real in Kisii region. Night runners might have abandoned the body parts because the body parts looks to be exhumed. This is a big shame to the Gusii community," she said.
Kisii county police commander Hassan Abdi confirmed the incident and said police have launched investigations.
Abdi said the body parts were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
