A boy who was presumed dead surprised his family when he returned home on Tuesday. Moses Fundi, age 15 is said to have suffered from mental issues.

Fundi reportedly disappeared from his home in Majimbo village, Embu County in June. After attempts to find the lost boy failed the family reported him missing.

They later received a report that a body had been found along Embu-Mwea highway near Mururi village matching the description of Moses Fundi.

Once the family went to check the body at the mortuary they assumed it was their son and proceeded with the burial.

Fundi's mother, Joyce Njoka said that the family lacked the necessary funds to conduct a DNA test that would have eventually verified whether it was their son or not.

However, three weeks later Njoka got a knock on her door and when she went to open she found her lost son.

"Initially I was very shocked but later came to terms with it. His disappearance had agonized us a lot," said his mother as quoted by The Standard.

Family and friends are still coming to terms with the whole ordeal after many months of desperately searching for Fundi and the identity of the boy buried is still unknown.

"We do not know whom we buried, we need help to identify him," she said.
