An Administration Police (AP) officer attached to the Marigat (AP) post on Monday shot himself dead after handing over his children to his younger brother.
According to residents who live near the AP post, the deceased, Daniel Chemjor, took away his life shortly after returning from his usual patrol duties at the neighborhood.
He is said to have used his G3 rifle in killing himself after calling his brother telling him to take care of his three children without further explanation.
He declined to pick his brother's call when called back to explain what he meant.
The brother, Nixon Chemjor told reporters that the late had requested for a month-leave but did not know if the leave had been granted or not. His wife was not at home when the incident happened.
The incident left residents in shock as the man is said to have enjoyed a good relationship with the wife as well as other family members.
However a neighbor, Samson Sigei said on the fateful day, the man looked stressed up as he went about his patrol business in a nearby market.
He shot himself in the chest twice.
"He called and told me that he had weighty issues related to work and that I should help him take care of his children," the brother Nixon Chemjor said.
