Shocking details have surfaced about the amount of money lost by Migori County government within three years.
Since 2013, the county has lost at least Sh129.6 million to ghost workers.
Reports indicate that the 46 fake staff have been earning Sh2.7 million per month.
Governor Okoth Obado disclosed that the fake employees were exposed following a head count.
“My government will ensure the money irregularly paid out is recovered,” Governor Obado said.
He revealed that the county has been paying salaries to 2,700 people, instead of 1,100 workers.
Early July, the county secretary Christopher Rusana wrote to all county staff to avail themselves for a head count.
