Majority Leader Aden Duale has played down speculations that the ruling party is secretly pushing for a truce between the Wajir governor, Mohamed Abdi and his predecessor Ahmed Abdullahi in a view to settling the dispute surrounding the county 's gubernatorial position.
The duo is embroiled with a court case after the latter challenged the victory of the former on August 8 elections that were nullified twice in the courts; Supreme court and the court of appeal.
Speaking to the Kulan post, the majority leader pointed out that the Jubilee party would not be involved in the duo's wrangle as the matter is being adjudicated before the court.
“We are not pushing for any handshake, Jubilee leadership believes in the rule of law and justice for all and we will wait the outcome of the court case,” Duale said.
The Garissa Township MP further reiterated that the reconciliation and collaboration among the local leaders in the region to foster development was more imperative than seasonal elections.
“Reconciliation and working together by the political leadership is of more importance to the great people of Wajir, elections come and go but people of Wajir will remain the same,” Duale stated.
The pronouncements of the vocal legislator come in the heels of the political truce that was struck between President Uhuru and the Former Prime Minister Raila on March 9 at Harambee house buildings that sought the cessation of political bickering at national and county levels.
