Locals in Lelmolok village of Uasin Gishu county have been left in shock after a church in the area started digging a hole where its members will hide when end times come.
The church, End World Times, located near the Eldoret-Nakuru highway is said to have begun digging the hole about a fortnight ago.
"We were shocked when we heard that the church was digging a hole where they will hide when the world comes to an end," Moses Kitutu who resides near the church said.
Ever since the news broke out in the village, many people have been going to confirm the rumor but they are not allowed to access the church by the pastor and its members.
"This is our church and we will not allow outsiders to interfere with our activities. We have not forced anyone to be part of us and so people should just allow us to have our own religious belief," an aged woman who is a member at the church told some of the locals who wanted to confirm if they are digging a hole.
The news has received mixed reactions from the locals with some criticizing them while other saying the church has the right to have its own beliefs.
"We should not criticize them so much as long as they are doing it out of there own free will," Pastor Fred Rutitu who ministers at the Church of God which is also in the same area said when reached out for comment.
The pastor of the church has however refused to comment on the matter.
