The governor of Meru Kiraitu Murungi has sent home 1,030 casual in a bid to reduce the pressure on the county's resources.15 million has been used by the County Government of Meru to pay the salaries of the workers monthly, a reality that the county government says is unsustainable.The radical move has been met with shock from the affected casual workers.''Personally, I am very shocked. That is what I have been depending on to foot the bills of my family. I don't know what I am going to do now,'' one of the affected county employees said on condition of anonymity.Governor Murungi ascended to power on a platform of enhancing service delivery by reducing on wasteful spending.
