A middle aged man from Nyamira, Keera location on Sunday hanged self for over allegedly discrimination by his family for being HIV positive.

Stephen Onchong'a, 60, complained that due to his condition, his family had despised an neglected him.

"He complained that the family does not respect him and even threatened to kill himself," said his wife, Rachel Kerubo.

Before his tragic death, Onchong'a, a father of four, was working as a casual labourer at a construction site.

Nyamira County Commssioner Isaiah Naikoru warned against discrimination of people living with HIV adding that they are prone to stigmatization.
