30-year-old David Nazir told journalists on Thursday that he accidentally swallowed the toothbrush when he was brushing his teeth on Sunday morning at his home in Paziani village, Ganze, Kilifi County.

Nazir who appeared in good health as he talked to the press on his hospital bed, said he was shocked to learn that he had swallowed a toothbrush given that he has been brushing his teeth for years now.

"I am in shock since I have been brushing my teeth for the last 30 years only to swallow a toothbrush," said Nazir.

The father of two said he tried to pull out the toothbrush but it kept sliding down to the stomach due to the softness of toothpaste.

A copy of an X-ray showed a full brush lodged in the patient's stomach.

"I hope the hospital will do whatever they do to remove the toothbrush from my body," he said.

Nazir said he felt no pain but he was uncomfortable and worried.

"I feel no pain, but it’s unusual that I have a foreign thing in my body,” Nazir added.

Doctors advised him not to take heavy meals like Ugali ahead of possible operation to remove the toothbrush.
