A family in Embu North is in shock after their son burned down his house as a way of ejecting his second wife who had refused to welcome his first wife.
Mugendi Murithii set his house a blaze after his second wife refused to welcome back his first wife who had been visiting her parents.
According to the man’s mother, Beth Wawira, the second wife was angry after it was decided that the first wife would stay at home and then the second wife would find a house at Mbuvori shopping centre courtesy of her husband.
The mother said that the second wife was not happy with the decision and declined to leave, which led to the husband torching his house.
Nothing was salvaged from the fire that consumed even his parents’ belongings.
The 37-year-old Muriithi then attacked his father and in response, his brothers lynched him but he managed to escape and is still at large.
The first wife sustained injuries from the fire.
