There was drama at Nyamira market in Kisii South Sub-County on Friday after a man who consumed chang’aa stripped naked in the market.
Business at the market came into a standstill as traders and customers were brought to watch the free drama.
“The man was very drunk when he started undressing slowly starting by his shirt, vest, trouser and underwear before he started running and shouting in the market naked,” said Geoffrey Maina, a witness.
Maina said men, women and children were looking at the man as he moved around the market naked.
"No one was ready to sell or buy as all eyes were directed to the man who has never been in the same state before. He is an alcohol addict but he has never stripped naked as he did. It is shocking and seems he might have been drugged,” he said.
Residents called on security officers to intensify crackdown on illicit brews in the area.
“Selling of illicit brews especially chang’aa is rampant in the area. It is time police officers with the help of Nyumba Kumi officials to crackdown and arrest illicit liquor dealers because several families have broken because of alcohol consumption,” said Hyline Mokomba.
