Residents of Lelmolok village in Kesses Sub County were left in shock after a middle-aged man feasted on dog meat on, Monday. The dog is said to have died on the previous day from an unknown disease.
"The man has shocked the entire village. We never expected that someone could eat dog meat especially of a dead one," one of the shocked residents who introduced himself as Kiprop said.
The man is said to have slaughtered the dog on Monday morning and roasted the meat. According to the man, there is nothing wrong with eating the meat since it is from an animal.
"This is just a normal animal like a cow and a goat, so I don't see anything wrong in eating it," the man whose name is Josphat Mukala said.
The wife is reported to have warned him against the act but he gave her a deaf ear. She even tried to bury the dog but the husband was so adamant to the point of almost beating her up.
"I tried to prevent him from slaughtering the meat but he was so insistent. He even almost beat me up after realizing I was going to bury the dog," the wife said.
The whole village watched in shock as he ate his meal of roasted dog meat. The clinic officers who coincidentally happened to be part of the crowd warned the villagers against such acts.
