Police in Nakuru have launched investigation into an incident in which a police officer attached to Molo police station on Tuesday night shot dead a woman suspected to be his wife before turning the gun to himself as a child aged below five years watched in Pangani estate Nakuru town.
Confirming the night incident, Nakuru OCPD Joshua Omukatta said the officer used an AK 47 rifle to execute his mission that is still under investigations.
” The officer used an AK 47 rifle to execute his mission that is still under investigations. Details of whether the officer was supposed to be on duty or not will be released once investigations are completed” said OCPD.
He added that police are also yet to establish whether the slain woman was the officer's wife.
Pangani estate residents, Nakuru, were shocked by the incident.
“We identified the bodies and one of the bodies was of police officer from Molo police station. We have taken the bodies to mortuary and investigations are on to establish the genesis of that incident,” said OCPD.
Interviewed neighbors said that they heard the two quarreling after which gunshots followed.
