Resident of Chebaiywo, Kesses constituency in Uasin Gishu County woke up to a rude shock after a new born baby was found dumped in a toilet Sunday morning.
Witnesses say they heard cries from a toilet block and decided to demolish it to rescue the baby boy.
The unknown mother of the abandoned baby is believed to have given birth in the morning, before fleeing.
The residents helped police wrap up the baby before he was taken to a nearby hospital for examination.
Area elder Paul Chesire cautioned the residents against such inhuman acts, saying anyone found culpable of the act will face the law.
“This is inhuman, we have launched a hunt for the mother, she should face the law,” said Chesire.
“This is very sad. How could a woman carry a baby for nine-months and decide to throw him away?” one of the residents asked.
