Police have recovered a Sh 2.5 million generator belonging to the Tharaka Nithi county government at a property owned by a former governor.

According to sources, the generator was discovered installed at a hotel allegedly owned by former Governor Samuel Ragwa.

The Standard has reported that the governor diverted the generator to personal use after 'it and another one were donated by a non-governmental organisation when the former governor was in charge'.

It was supposed to serve at the county headquarters from where it is reported to have disappeared mysteriously.

“We are in consultation with the county government on whether they wanted to prefer charges against the former governor or whether they wanted the matter to rest after the recovery,” said a police officer quoted by the Standard.
