On Monday a watchmen and student were killed at Kaptebeswet Secondary School in Kipchebor Ward, Kericho County.

According to Kericho Deputy County Commissioner Stanlaus Apwokha the two victims had been tortured prior to their deaths.

"Initial investigation shows that the two died from all sorts of injuries ranging from stab wounds and strangulation. As you can see there is a lot of blood," said Mr Apwokha as reported by The Star.

The bodies were found by one of the workers in the early morning hours after discovering the gate had not yet been opened.

According to reports, the two were found dead with their hands tied behind their backs.

Many items were stolen and residents in the area have condemned the act.

According to Kipchebor Ward MCA Eric Bett, insecurity in the area is on the rise and called on residents to be proactive.

"It is a very sad day in this village and the situation is highly emotive. But I am calling on the residents to maintain calm as we work with the police to get to the root cause of this," said Mr Bett.
