Embu County Referral Hospital CEO Njue Gachoki was arraigned in a court on Tuesday and charged with stealing a dead man's heart.

The prosecution argues that the removal of the vital body organ was illegal and that Mr Njue worked hard to destroy evidence that could implicate him.

He is said to have acted deliberately in destroying the heart.

Also facing similar charges is his son, who was also his assistant, Anasha Mureithi Njue but did not appear physically in court.
