Police in Nyamira have arrested two suspects following discovery of a placenta in a local brew during Saturday’s crack down on illicit brew.

The incident at Migingo village in Nyamira South has left residents in utter shock as they try to come in terms with reality.

Through the local administration, the government of Kenya launched a vicious crackdown on liquor brewers in an effort aimed at improving productivity across the country.

‘Police poured down several pots of liquor before discovering the placenta. This shows how unhealthy the Chang’aa is and that is why people are dying daily,” said Nyamira South OCPD Riko Ngare.

He added: “This region is notorious but I never thought it can go to that extent. This is endangering human life and those responsible will face full force of the law.”

The culprits were due to be arraigned in Nyamira Law courts on Monday and will be charged with endangering human life besides engaging in outlawed business.

He urged Chiefs to be carrying out thorough crackdown and apprehend Chang’aa brewers in a move aimed at reducing idleness in the region.
