This comes exactly a year after Odinga termed the water project that has cost tax payers Sh 6.8 billion as a 'tunnel of death.'

Residents now say that they have proved Odinga was right because they nolonger access the precious commodity.

"Raila was right but we never knew that because we were blinded by politics. As we talk we are now suffering and no one is here to help us," Mr Pius Njuguna a resident said.

According  to locals, they are forced to cover long distances in search of water and at times even missing it.

"Water vendors have taken advantage of the situation and sell a 20 liter jerry can of water at Sh 40," said Mercy waweru a local.

The tunnel was designed to assist people loving in Nairobi to have surplous water without considering locals.

In his statement then Odinga urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop the project that was funded by world bank.

Odinga said in a short time Garissa, Ukambani, Tana Delta and Murang'a will be turned into deserts.

Residents say if the tunnel will not be controlled then locals are going to suffer most.

Their sentiments come as a shocker to Jubilee as Murang'a is considered its stronghold.
