Mandera County has experienced horrible terror attacks from the militia based in Somalia Alshabaab for the last five Years.
Security experts attributed these attacks to the proximity of the county to the war-torn nation, Somalia.
Statistically, Mandera is the worst hit by the terror attacks witnessed in the entire northeastern region.

2014 Mandera bus shooting
The horrible shootings happened in November 22, 2015, when a Mandera bound bus ferrying passengers was hijacked by Alshabab and killed 28 of them.
Majority of the passengers were non-local teachers who were travelling home for the Christmas celebrations.
Mandera quarry attack of 2014
It is touted as the most painful terror attacks ever witnessed in the Mandera County.
It happened on December 25, 2015, where the insurgents raided a quarry site and massacred 36 quarry workers who were asleep during the attack.
Bisharo Hotel blast
The militia launched a scathing attack on Bishaaro hotel on October 26, 2016, and executed 12 people.
The attack has precipitated the exodus of no -local teachers who cited perpetual insecurity in the region.
