Following the lecturers' strikes that has raged for months, most students have been left idle and unguided making them seek some behaviour that in most instances are heartbreaking.

What are students actually doing in school during this period of the strike?

Partying-The freedom and time the students have been used to party and have fun.

It is this time that students explore all the existing clubs in town.

“A comrade must always have fun. When classes resume we will be on our toes making it hard to have fun. We should utilize this opportunity meanwhile,” said Mose Babu a Garissa varsity student.

Looking for sponsors-the varsity students Helb has banked into their accounts months ago and I can say none of it still exists.

To sustain the numerous demands including the numerous clubs and outs, the students especially the female students solicit money from sponsors.

During this idle time, they can explore the world with sponsors as they visit numerous places.

Sex-sex becomes the order of the day.

There was a time students were demonstrating citing that they are tired of intercourse and lecturers should resume classes.

For what most parents don’t know, their sons and daughters are married.

Most of them live as husband and wives. Some since the lecturers strike kicked off have been at their partner’s homes.

“I don’t see any problem living with my boyfriend. What is the problem of that especially that we are in love? Furthermore, we save more money by staying together,” stated Jane Khaemba a Garissa University Student.

An endless trips-A friend told me of a lady at the moment in Uganda.

Destination, no one knows. Allegedly he went to visit someone they met online.

The students when idle don’t like staying on the varsity premises.

They like going out, either to their boyfriend’s places, or friends, attend parties among other things but far away from the university.

“Most students don’t like going home but at the same time don’t like staying in the varsity premises.

They have numerous journey and you will find them very busy moving in and out with bags. Most of them like traveling and visiting,” noted Henry Njoge.

Conning parents-some students are conning their parents so that they can continue to sustain their stay at the varsities despite the lecturers strike.

Most them fool the parents telling them that some lecturers attend classes yet, in reality, none of it happens.
