The Tala-Ol Donyo Sabuk road, whose construction was commissioned three months ago by President Uhuru Kenyatta has become an eyesore to the town residents.

A heap of excavated soil in the middle of the road is a disaster in waiting, residents and local motorists have warned.

"The contractor should immediately get rid of the heap of murram they left dangerously in the middle of the road, which is posing a potential risk of an accident in the busy town," said a boda-boda rider.

There are also concerns raised over the slow pace in the construction works. "Construction of this road is the slowest ever project we have witnessed under the current government and we wonder if it will be completed as scheduled," said a local trader.
