Kiambu shoe shiners are counting huge profits as the rains continue to fall.
They say business is at its peak following the rains that have fallen for more than a month now, noting that students and working class people are their major customers contributing to the huge profits.
“Earlier I used only to make small returns from mending shoes but I have now shifted my attention to brushing shoes since more people are calling for the business than before,” says Duncan Ndaguatha.
This is as a result of the mud and impassable roads following the heavy rains.
“You know most of these people want to look smart especially those in offices and students. One will pass by and have the shoes cleaned before heading to their offices for even if they brush back home, when they get here it is already dirty,” says Ibrahim Otieno .
Some of them make profits as huge as Sh700 daily.
