Former Registrar of the Judiciary Gladys Shollei has joined an already congested Uasin Gishu Women Representative race.
Shollei joins former Eldoret South MP Peris Simam, university don Emily Kogos, Businesswoman Eunice Talai among others.
Incumbent Eusilah Ngeny had opted not to defend her seat and instead joined Soy parliamentary race.
“I was appalled to see residents demonstrate against poor maize prices. The residents ought to have demonstrated against their elected leaders because they have failed to represent them properly,” she said.
“I am going to defend your interests because I believe with your support I can do it easily. We need a society where even maize prices can enable someone purchase a Mercedes Benz,” Shollei added.
Even though she did not reveal her party of choice, Shollei is likely to use the Jubilee Party given its dominance in the region.
