An  Mpesa agent at Nairobi's Eastleigh area was shot dead by a gang who escaped with cash on Wednesday night.

The man who works as an Mpesa agent shop was shot dead by armed robbers who pretended to be customers only to turn against him and rob him.

According to Geoffrey Babu, an eyewitness said the agent was shot after a confrontation with the gangs who later shot him in the chest. 

"He died on his way to hospital," he said.  

The gang escaped with an unknown amount of money after the incident.
