A middle-aged man who broke into a Naivasha shop and stole cereals worth Sh405,000 has been sentenced to five years imprisonment. Moses Wanyonyi raided Anne Nyawira’s cereal shop on the night of April 12 this year and stole 53 bags of beans, 22 bags of maize and two bags of rice. Police found two bags of beans and a sack of rice in Wanyonyi’s house and, upon interrogation, he admitted to having stolen the goods. Naivasha senior resident magistrate Peter Gesore said the accused did not respect Nyawiras property, which is wrong. In his defence, Wanyonyi pleaded for forgiveness, saying he had learnt his lessons and would not steal again.
