On Friday, the Supreme Court of Kenya nullified the re-election of Uhuru Kenyatta on the basis that the election did not adhere to the constitutional frame works of the country.
This means that Kenyans will within 60 days go back to the polls to chose their president again.
However, one stand out factor is the David Maraga element, the Chief Justice in Kenya who is a staunch Seventh-Day Adventist, one who is ready to stand on his faith irrespective of his high profile office.
Maraga has repeatedly quoted one of Adventist most read writer Ellen G. White on matters integrity has repeatedly quoted the famous quote.
"The greatest want of the world is the want of men-men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole. Men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall." read Whites quote from the book Education.
The decision to nullify a presidential petition is historic and big in Kenya, given that it is the first time such a decision has been taken in the country and in the annuals of history the name of one David Maraga will appear as the first judge ever to lead a team that took that path. Not to forget his Adventist roots.
Not far from Maraga is Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who excited many in 2016 after he led a revolution in the KCSE and KCPE examination results where for the first time incidents of cheating in national exams were dealt with, and historically for the first time only 141 candidates got grade A in KCSE.
The changes that Matiang'i, who is also a Seventh-Day Adventist made in the education sector have been praise by Kenyans across the country. Many saluting him for bringing back sanity in the education sector.
A section of Kenyans is proposing that Adventsit should lead the nation because they seem as men who cannot be compromised when it comes to crucial decision making.
What do you have to say about this? Be the Judge.
