Led by Kiambu Women Representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba, the MPs said that Haji should move on with the same speed and ensure stern action is taken against State officers embezzling taxpayers money through corruption.

Speaking to journalists in Kiambu Town on Saturday, the MPs said that corruption is a monster that should be wiped out without mercy.

The legislators said that DPP Haji has the potential to eliminate the vice and guarantee the safety of the country’s resources.

“The DPP should not fear anyone whether small or big fish and ensure that all suspects and culprits linked to graft rot in jail," Wa Muchomba said.

The Jubilee MP also asked politicians across the divide to unite in the fight against corruption.

“Corruption does not know political alignments or tribes and as such we must unite and eliminate it together,” she added.

On his part, Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange urged the government to move with speed to recover the stolen money.

"As the suspects are being arraigned in court to answer to corruption charges, we want to see the stolen money being recovered," Koinange said.

The Kiambaa lawmaker said that corruption is a big obstacle to the realisation of development.

The MPs asked Kenyans to also play their part and help the government eliminate the vice.

On Tuesday last week, 33 suspects accused of allegedly swindling Sh8 billion in the fresh NYS scandal were arraigned and charged in court.

The suspects among them Public Service PS Lilian Omollo and NYS Director General Richard Ndubai denied the 10 counts of corruption charges levelled against them by the prosecution.

The suspects were remanded at the Langata women’s prison and Nairobi Industrial Area until Tuesday next week when Anti-corruption magistrate Douglas Ogoti will make a ruling on whether to release them on bond or cash bail.
