Nairobi County was on Thursday painted in Red and Orange colours, as the main players in the gubernatorial race presented their papers to the IEBC.

With the clearance of Mike Sonko and incumbent Evans Kidero, their teams are now set for the showdown in August 8.

Their presentation of the papers to the IEBC was painted with colour as it was accomperd by supporters keen on witnessing their leaders getting the nod.

The first at the IEBC for clearance was Kidero, who was slotted to be there by 11 oclock.

He, together with his entourage arrived at Kasarani at 15 minutes past the hour.

It all started at the city hall when hundreds of youths in commuter buses blocked the road at city hall, chanting his praises as they waited for him to leave the offices.

His convoy then sneaked through Muthurwa and Pangani, before joining Thika Road and all through the way to Kasarani where the IEBC had set up the county offices.

After cleareance, he led hundreds of supporters to Babadogo grounds. He had been accompanied by several NASA aspiratns.

At around 230pm, Sonko and afew of his aides drove into Kasarani. It took about 30 min to be cleared. All this while, his supporters waited patiently for him to be cleared before heading to Githurai for a rally.

The candidates will now be expected to crisscross Nairobi, hoping to woo supporters for the August 8 polls.
