Addressing press in his Athi River office on Thursday, Lemalasia said it was undemocratic and barbaric to mistreat the deputy governor.

He added that it was not in order to deny Kiala his constitutional right of speech and to be heard arguing that the Deputy governor ought not to have been harassed as witnessed in Machakos Level 5 Hospital on Wednesday last week by some security agents.

He condemned the incident stating that the Deputy governor needs to be treated by decorum just like other democratically elected leaders across the nation.

“Leaders need to settle their differences through dialogue instead of exposing their colleagues to violence due to some misunderstanding or difference in ideologies,” said DCC Phylip Lemalasia.

He advised leaders from the region to cool their tempers, tolerate and coexist with their colleagues in spite of their political differences or misunderstandings.

Kiala was on Wednesday roughed up by people alleged to be supporters of Governor Alfred Mutua at Machakos Level 5 Hospital on Wednesday and his car toed by city askaris when he went to address health workers who were on strike by then.
