Mombasa leaders allied to the opposition have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to show the projects he has initiated in the county during his tenure in office.

Led by Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba, the leaders claimed that the Jubilee government has been riding on donor-funded projects to woo residents in the region."Jubilee has not done any development in Mombasa. They are riding on projects which are funded by foreign governments. We all pay taxes. Why are we not getting development," Bedzimba said during an ODM rally in Kisauni on Sunday.Bedzimba cited an incident where food items were destroyed in Mombasa in 2016 by the President over alleged tax evasion. The MP criticised the move, adding that the government cannot destroy food when people are going hungry. While urging the residents to support his re-election bid, Bedzimba defended his development record, saying much has been achieved during his tenure. He further asked residents to support NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga in his fourth stab at the presidency.
