Mombasa governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has asked opposition chief Raila Odinga to stop inciting Mombasa residents to reject government projects.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Changamwe on Thursday, Shahbal accused Raila of using the emotive land issue to gain political mileage.Shahbal said the issue of landlessness is not a creation of the Jubilee government, noting that it has been there since independence.Shahbal asked the former Prime Minister to keep off Jubilee affairs, and challenged Raila to show what he did during his time in government to address land problems in the region.Shahbal’s statement comes at a time when the opposition leaders led by Raila are pitching camp in the Coast region drumming up support for NASA coalition.While speaking at Mariakani in Kilifi on Thursday, Raila claimed that the Jubilee government has resorted to issuing fake title deeds in the region for political gains.
