A showdown looms in Mombasa, Sunday, following two parallel rallies, by two major political rivals.

Area governor, Ali Hassan Joho has organised for an ODM 'Pwani Declaration' rally at the Tononoka grounds.

He said the event would be used to announce the way forward for Coastal region politics.

Joho confirmed that they had already received a permit from the police, allowing them to go ahead with the rally, which he said would be attended by a multitude of ODM nd Nasa supporters.

Several ODM leaders are expected in the event.

On the other hand, Joho's Jubilee Party rival, Suleiman  Shahbal, has also organised for another rally at the Mvita grounds, same day.

The businessman who lost to Joho in the 2013 general elections, is Jubilee's best, to send Joho home in the August 8 general elections.

The two venues are historic, known for hosting major political rallies.

There could be a clash between ODM and Jubilee supporters during the events, since the two venues are almost 4kms apart.

Joho however called on the police to provide security, saying his rally would be peaceful.
