The University of Nairobi (UoN) student leadership has warned Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i that they will teach him a lesson following his recent directive to give away the Kenya Science campus.
Through Students Organisation of Nairobi University (Sonu) deputy speaker Ken Janabi, the students dared the ministry to make real the directive, accusing Matiang’i of 'crossing his borders'.
Janabi, who was speaking exclusively to Hivisasa on Thursday, further added that each of the 90,000 UoN students would have to be defeated for the campus to be taken.
"CS Education Matiang’i is crossing his borders. Let him dare touch UoN Kenya Science campus and he will know UoN has students. We will bring the Republic of Kenya to a standstill," he said.
"Someone tell Mr Matiang'i that he'll have to arrest me and every last one of the 90,000 comrades before taking Kenya Science campus from us! The premise is a life property of UoN!" Janabi added.
This comes a few days after Matiang’i wrote to the university asking them to vacate the premises before December 1, 2016.
In his letter dated September 9, the CS said that the current UoN campus was being turned into a campus of Kenya Technical Trainers College that was relocating from its current place in Gigiri, urging the leadership to vacate before the said date.
