A section of politicians from the North Rift warned the outspoken legislator against leading the demonstrations.

Kapseret legislator Oscar Sudi, speaking at William Ruto's assistant Farouk Kibet's home, said that he would not allow the demonstrations to go on.

''I hear there will be a meeting tomorrow in Eldoret. We will meet with you. We will not allow anybody to bring their stupidity in our county. We have our governor and leaders. If there is anyone who has stolen anything, let that person be brought to the table for discussion,'' a seething Sudi said.

The tough words from those vehemently opposed to the demonstrations could lead to a showdown between those in favour and those against the demonstrations.

Mr Keter has long contended that the corruption within government is responsible for the rot at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) that has seen genuine farmers shortchanged.

He had vowed earlier in the week to lead the demonstrations to protest the deplorable state of affairs.

It would be interesting to see how things pan out on Monday.
