A political showdown is expected in Nakuru as the county heads to the 2017 election.

Jubilee's Lee Kinyajui will face Independent Kinuthia Mbugua who has refused to quit the race after a defeat in the Jubilee primaries.

Kinuthia has announced will seek reelection as an Independent candidate.

Political observers say they are waiting to see how Mbugua will manouver in the region as an Independent when the region is observed a Jubilee stronghold.

"This will be a tall order. His advisers were not honest with him," a close ally of Mbugua told this writer.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto might also change the course of the race as they have a sentimental attachment to Nakuru.
