Kenya 7s captain Oscar Ouma has called on his teammates to put in a perfect performance this weekend at the Singapore 7s tournament.
Shujaa stunned Fiji in 2016 to lift the main cup and will be hoping for a second title playing in the capital.
The team had two near-perfect outings during the Vancouver 7s and the Hong Kong 7s, but had a disappointing Commonwealth Games tourney.
“For the guys who were here (in 2016), it was all about brotherhood, playing for the man standing next to you, putting in the hard work and dedication and that’s what made the difference,”
“There’s definitely a lot of positive sentiment, the fact that we won our first tournament here brings a lot of good memories and makes it a good place for us to play,” Ouma told World Rugby ahead of the Singapore 7s.
“Having been in two finals in the last two legs, we feel we can replicate it and go better and win it. We need to put in the hard work, never giving up and having the belief we can go the extra mile and win it if we hopefully get to the final.
“Singapore has a sentimental value to the team, winning the first tournament here brings good memories and its a good place to play,” Ouma added.
Shujaa is in a tough group in Pool B, where they will face England, France and USA.
